Boy steps out on the porch, watches two young mothers, a toddler and an infant. Toddler toddles, sees movable object lying on ground, picks up and puts in mouth, mother exclaims, tosses it away, second mother provides baby wipes with the speed and efficiency of the lead nurse on a heart-transplant operation. Toddler is saved from himself. Boy returns inside. Life, even when fairly mundane, can offer such beautiful moments everywhere you look.

Boy is sick to death of packing and talking about his big trip. Boy just wants to get it over with and find out if he actually is going to be able to cut it over there. Boy says goodbye to his best friend. Boy has dinner and a movie and dinner and dinner and drinks more than he should. Boy wonders “do they wonder?” - “what do you say?”. Boy surrounded by the annual ritualized evictions at Harvard, this does not make boy feel more sanguine. Boy takes a footbridge across a river and walks through a ballroom dancing class. Boy gives going away presents, and feels that he will miss his friends terribly. Boy gets a wonderful, perfect, superb and fantastic gift. Boy is not sure leaving is the right thing. Boy is acutely uncertain and acutely tired and wants everyone to know that he loves them. Boy has lunch with a girl, steals a street sign for her. Boy needs sleep. Boy has week of farewells, trying to say lots, only saying a little. Awkward pauses. Stilted speech. Things that could have gone better, things that went fine, things that were just about perfect. Boy wishes he had more pictures.

As always, there is more boy wants to say but boy is tired - boy’s heart is full of love for all of you, boy will write more once he is arrived and slept up a bit.
